A Taste Of Florida | Key Lime Pound Cake

A Southern Family Tradition
As many of you know, baking delicious cakes and pies is a true family tradition handed down for generations from the women in my family. But you might just be wondering about the men folk.
Long before there was special baking in the kitchen, there was a different kind of cooking going on in the barn. It was the cooking of corn mash in a copper still. This was a way of life for many men in Southern families and quite competitive too.
Now I'm not saying MY family partook in this activity. But my daddy has certainly been the recipient of such tradition over the years. These gentlemen were some rough yet colorful characters. The prized corn liquor they gifted daddy was smooth and crystal clear and perfect for swiggin'!
Tradition #1 (baking) + Tradition #2 (moonshine) = Moonshine Cakes
Call it the best of both worlds. Coming SUMMER 2016
Pineapple Coconut Pie
I loved gathering eggs with Miss Nellie and Miss Daisy. I would carefully take the fresh eggs from each nest. The eggs were still warm when we collected them. It was fun knowing they would make a delicious cake or pie. Nowadays, we consider farm fresh eggs a luxury. When I was growing up, I thought everyone had them. I loved to call the hens by name, pet them, and thank them for giving us such lovely eggs.
Mama's Deviled Eggs
This week I thought it would be fun to share some or our families favorite Easter recipes... Only seems fitting to start with an appetizers. Mama's Deviled Eggs!

Daisy Cakes on The Chew on ABC
The 15th annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival was incredible! The weather was perfect! The food was perfect! The celebrity chefs came out in force! As a matter of fact, I was interviewed by my favorite, Chef Michael Symon.
Tune into ABC's "The Chew" today to see the interview and Chef Symon's reaction to his belated birthday cake surprise! Here's a hint...there is Pork involved!
The interview was so much fun and includes the Pork Rind Crusted Cheesecake that I shared last week.
Meatopia with Micheal Symon
Here in the South we like to look at food as an opportunity to be with friends as much as an experience to eat!
Coming up on Saturday, February 27 I will be a part of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival's Meatopia hosted by my friend Chef Michael Symon.
I hope you can join us. If you can't make it but would like to make the dessert I'm serving, here's the recipe.

Our homemade White Chocolate Strawberry Dazzle is also known as our Valentine Dazzler! We enjoy using a pure strawberry extract in the cake layers. The fresh made strawberry curd filling is made in small batches in my grandmother's enamal pot and the icing is made with real butter (that's how we roll in the south) with white chocolate granache mixed in.
This is the perfect cake for the month of love! Order this cake today because it will not be here for long. Order Now
