I come from a long line of wonderful cooks. Some of my recipes have been handed down for generations. A few have been adapted to bake in an electric oven instead of in the old wood stove that required hours of steady watching and temperature regulation with another log or two. As a little girl I remember the Sunday dinners with my grandmothers and great aunt. The table was running over with fried chicken, rice and gravy, vegetables from the garden, biscuits and of course, a delicious cake.
There was always a gracious plenty! At their church homecoming every August, the congregation wanted to know what was brought from Miss Daisy's and Miss Nellie's kitchen. Whatever it was, that was one of the first things to go. My Mama Adams was know for her beautiful garden and making some of the best strawberry preserves anyone ever tasted. These were hard-working women who didn't have it as easy as we do today. They raised their own chickens, gathered their own eggs, planted gardens, milked cows, churned butter and cooked on wooden stoves. They lived well into their 90's!
My mother and I have cooked and baked cakes together for as long as i can remember. One of the first cakes we ever sold was a 4-layer chocolate cake. We sold it for only $7.00! Since then, we have baked thousands of cakes for people in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Now we are going nationwide with a few of our best sellers! We hope you will enjoy our cakes as much as our loyal customers. We can't wait to hear from you at www.ilovedaisycakes.com.
